Daniel M. Harris, Ed.D 

 

Daniel M. Harris, Ed.D., is an educator, coach, consultant, and Positive Design coach whose work centers on motivation, growth, leadership, achievement, and optimal performance. Drawing from his background in education, counseling psychology, positive coaching, equity leadership, and athletics, Daniel supports individuals and organizations in developing greater clarity, confidence, purpose, and commitment in sport, business, education, and daily life.

Daniel has spent three decades at John Burroughs School, where he serves as Director of the Community & Equity Leadership Center and is the founding director of The Equity Exchange. Through this work, he has helped lead regional and national conversations on diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, intercultural competence, and systemic change in educational communities. He is also a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®), a tool used to assess and support intercultural competence - the capability to shift cultural perspective and appropriately adapt behavior to cultural differences and commonalities.

Daniel’s leadership extends beyond educational equity and into athletics. As Head Track & Field Coach at John Burroughs School, he has built one of Missouri’s most accomplished small-school track and field programs. His teams and student-athletes have earned numerous district, state, and championship honors, and Daniel has been recognized multiple times as a Missouri Track Coach of the Year. His “train smarter” coaching philosophy emphasizes intentional preparation, technical growth, leadership development, and the use of emerging sport science principles to help athletes pursue excellence with purpose.

Across all areas of his work, Daniel brings a rare blend of educator, coach, strategist, and mentor. His approach aligns with Positive By Design’s broader commitment to helping people create lives they love through intentional growth, well-being, and performance.
